Synopsis

Barry Williams arrives at his parents' house in the middle of a personal collapse. His marriage is ending, divorce papers are on the way, and he has nowhere else to go. The house itself mirrors his life: cluttered, dark, and full of unresolved history. His father Billy greets him warmly, cracking jokes about his wife Victoria's hoarding and his own vices, while his mother Victoria smothers him with affection tinged with bitterness toward his ex. Barry retreats to his untouched childhood bedroom, a small island of order in the chaos, and quietly grieves his marriage.
That evening, Victoria heads out for margaritas at a bar with her friend Maria, who never shows. Alone and a little buzzed, she's approached by Regina, a striking, magnetic stranger who offers her a taste of something from a silver flask, a drink she calls Malum. Victoria drinks it, and something shifts in her almost immediately. When she looks up again, Regina has vanished without explanation.
Back home that night, Victoria examines herself in the bathroom mirror as her body begins to change: her eyes glow gold, black veins spread beneath her skin, and her reflection begins acting independently of her. She is no longer fully herself. She goes to bed with Billy, who notices she seems different, more vibrant, younger somehow, but the moment turns violent as Victoria, now possessed, brutally kills him.
The next morning, Barry returns from running errands to a quiet, unsettling house. He can't find his father, and small details don't add up: a blood trail near the nightstand, an untouched truck in the driveway, his father's wallet still in the dresser. Victoria offers vague, calm explanations, claiming Billy left to get some air, but her demeanor is off, and she seems to vanish and reappear strangely. Over the course of the day, Barry's unease grows as he pieces together the discrepancies, eventually finding a dried bloodstain under the bedroom rug.
That night, drawn by a whimpering sound, Barry follows a cold draft to the basement, where he discovers his father's mutilated corpse hidden under a tarp. Before he can process it, Victoria descends the stairs, fully transformed: veined, rotting, glowing-eyed, her voice overlapping with Regina's. She reveals that she let the entity in willingly and tries to draw Barry into the same fate, attacking him. In a desperate struggle, Barry retrieves his father's hidden pistol from a stashed box and shoots his possessed mother, killing her and ending the immediate threat, but leaving both his parents dead and his understanding of his family shattered.
One week later, Barry sits alone at a sports bar, hollowed out by grief and still fielding halfhearted texts from his ex. Regina reappears, sliding onto the stool beside him with the same eerie calm and offer of a drink. The story ends on the implication that the evil which destroyed his family has not finished with him, closing the door on this chapter while opening the possibility of another one.
